TAX COLLECTION

All taxes not paid to the Township BEFORE MARCH 1ST will be sent to the County Treasurer on MARCH 1ST for tax collection.  Please contact the County Treasurer at (231) 922-4735 if you have questions on the amount due as of March 1st.

Township Treasurer’s Statutory Duties

• Collects real and personal property taxes
• Keeps an account of township receipts (revenues) and expenditures.
• Issues township checks
• Deposits township revenues in approved depositories
• Invests township funds in approved investment vehicles
• Collects delinquent personal property tax
• Responsible for jeopardy assessments in collecting property tax
• Collects mobile home specific tax
• Shall appoint a deputy
• Shall post a surety bond
